How scoring works

A plain-words policy for the estimated fit score, the free check and the paid report. Scoring model version 1.0.

The score is an estimate

The score shows how closely the skills, experience, education and clarity on your resume match what a role commonly asks for. It is shown as a range because postings and employers differ. It is guidance for improving your resume. It is not a validation of your resume, not a measure of your ability and not a prediction of any hiring decision. Resumetics.in makes no promise of interviews, offers or jobs.

Same resume, same result

The fit score is calculated with fixed rules, not by AI, so the same resume text for the same role gives the same result every time. Any AI-written parts of the paid report, such as suggested rewrites of your resume lines, are suggestions only. Check that every line is true before you use it. The paid report is saved when it is created, so opening or downloading it again shows the same report.

Why a different file can change the score

Scores can change slightly if the same resume is uploaded in a different file format (PDF or Word), a scan, or after a model update, because each is read differently.

  • A PDF, a Word file and a scanned copy of the same resume are read by different text readers, and each can pick up words, headings and dates slightly differently.
  • Tables, columns, text boxes, images and unusual fonts may be read in a different order or missed.
  • Changing your wording, adding skills or fixing dates changes the score, as it should.
  • When we improve the scoring rules or the reader, we raise the model version. Each report shows the version it was made with, so two reports can be compared fairly.

For the most consistent result, upload the same file type each time, in a simple one-column layout, with clear headings such as Experience, Education and Skills.

Free check and paid report

  • Each person gets 2 free checks. We use technical signals such as a browser mark, a fingerprint of the resume and network limits to keep this fair. We store only fingerprints, never the resume text, for this purpose.
  • A paid report is for one person's resume and one role, used once. To check another role or an updated resume, a new report is needed. Opening or downloading the report you already paid for does not use anything up.
  • Reports can also be bought through a partner, such as a career counsellor or placement agency, who gives you a single-use coupon code. The coupon covers one resume for one role and must be used within 30 days of receiving it. After the first use, the same resume and role can reopen the report for 30 days. Partners can see whether a code has been used, but not your resume, role or report.
  • Because a free preview is available before you pay, paid reports are not refundable. Please check the preview first.

Job market figures

Pay ranges, skill demand and trends come from job postings we could read at the time, and each figure states how many postings stand behind it. Where we have too few postings, we say so and do not show a figure.

Sponsored listings

Paid placements, such as courses, coaches and career counsellors, are labelled Sponsored. They do not change your score. Resumetics.in does not endorse sponsored services or promise any result from them.

Your data

Your resume is used to create your report. Employers cannot see it unless you choose to share it. Where AI is used to write parts of the paid report, only the specific resume lines being rewritten are sent, with contact details removed, and only after you agree.
